Trails have recently been getting some publicity during candidate discussions leading up to the Nov. 7 local elections! Why, and how are candidates talking about them?

Could it be the recent Billings community survey commissioned by our Parks and Recreation Department (which shows trails as the number one facility most important to households)? (See the Parks Master Plan here).

Or the Candidate Lunch & Learns sponsored by Billings TrailNet last spring?

Or the priorities identified by the Billings Chamber of Commerce in 2009 with trails contributing to a high quality of life and economic and healthy community benefits that result from an active transportation system?

Could it be the Active Transportation initiative developed by Healthy by Design (the coalition comprised of Billings Clinic, RiverStone Health and St. Vincent Healthcare)?

Could Billings TrailNet’s 900+ members indicate a desire in our community for a connected trail system?

Perhaps it is all of these and many other efforts too numerous to mention here, but your vote counts! Please vote on or before Nov. 7, 2017… and if you would like to see where candidates’s answers fall when it comes to trail and economic development, please see our summary of candidates answers here.

Thank you candidates, for responding to your community!!
