In November of last year Billings TrailNet set a goal to raise $11,500 towards the construction of a paved, multi-use path from Swords Park to the new Yellowstone Kelly Interpretive Site. Thanks to our generous donors, we are proud to announce that we met our goal and have presented the Yellowstone Kelly Interpretive Site(YKIS) Committee with a check for $23,000 to add another mile to the Billings Trail System!

The Yellowstone Kelly Grave Site is long overdue for a remodel with the current grave site almost unrecognizable due to negligence and vandalism. The YKIS committee plans to commemorate the local hero with a beautiful interpretive site that will represent his life as well as he has represented the Montana way of life.

The Community support on this project has been immense with many area businesses making sizable donations to the YKIS committee to help them reach their fundraising goal in time to begin construction this spring. Weather permitting, the committee hopes to have the site completed and open to the public by late August which means our local runners, walkers, and cyclists will have plenty of time to enjoy the site and the new trail before the winter weather hits.

Thank you again to everyone whose donation helped us reach our goal! We couldn’t have done it without you!
