Roundabouts can be intimidating for riders and drivers alike who have little experience with them. First, if you are nervous about riding through a roundabout, drive your car around once first. The way to ride through is the same as you drive, so this will prepare you on which lane you need to be in before being on two wheels.

Please follow these steps to safely navigate a roundabout.

  1. Slow down as you approach. Pay attention to the lane signs.
  2. Choose your lane.
  3. Take the center of your chosen lane to be as visible as possible.
  4. Yield to pedestrians in the entry crosswalk.
  5. Look left, yield to all traffic in the roundabout and enter when it is safe to do so.
  6. Stay in your lane until you exit.
  7. Signal your exit and yield to pedestrians in the cross walk.

When approaching a two-lane roundabout, if you need to turn left get into the left lane as you would in a car and follow your lane out to the exit.

DO NOT STOP IN THE ROUNDABOUT!

IF YOU FEEL UNSAFE, DISMOUNT AND USE THE CROSSWALKS!
