Billings TrailNet applied for a large grant last month to the Recreational Trails Program for the largest grant possible of $90,000.

The application includes from (west to east):

  • Paved parking at Zimmerman Park
  • Restrooms and benches at Zimmerman Park (generously provided by Phillips 66)
  • Interpretive signage at Zimmerman Park
  • A trail from parking lot to pedestrian underpass
  • A pedestrian underpass under Zimmerman Trail (provided by Montana Department of Transportation)
  • A paved trail from east side of underpass to an endpoint at Zimmerman Place (the first neighborhood east of Zimmerman Trail)

While MDT will be building the roundabout AND pedestrian underpass this summer, their contribution to the trail and a whopping $60,000 from Phillips 66 for a restroom facility and benches along the trail shows the community’s investment and commitment to this project.

Billings TrailNet will present the project and answer the granting committee’s questions in Helena on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
