SB 24 seeks to increase the optional fee on light motor vehicle registration from $6 to $9. If passed, it will:

• increase funding support for Montana’s 55 State Parks
• create a new trail and recreation grant program
• double registration funding support for Fishing Access Sites

According to Bob Walker, chairman of the Montana Trails Coalition, the SB 24 passed out of Senate Finance and Claims Committee on February 22 with a close vote of 11 yes, 9 no. Now it will go back to the Senate floor,  possibly early the week of February 25. It is hoped it will pass the Senate and move on to the House.
