The first Friends of the Stagecoach Trail (FOST) meeting was Wednesday, November 12 at the Billings Public Library. We had over 100 people in attendance-including Billings Mayor Bill Cole and Mayor-Elect Mike Nelson-to learn about the Stagecoach Trail, a multi-use trail connecting the valley to the rims. If you weren’t able to make it, here’s what you missed!
The City of Billings has partnered with HDR, a local engineering firm, to design the Stagecoach Trail, which will connect Rimrock Road with the Skyline and Skyway Drive trails and Zimmerman Park atop the Rimrocks. HDR Roadway Engineer and Stagecoach Trail project manager Bryant Johnson (pictured above) presented on the project’s progress and timeline along with estimated completion date. He also discussed three different design options for the trail, with option 1 being the most likely.
During the Q&A session, topics included design options, trail slope, ADA compliance, federal and local funds awarded, maintenance, and parking. Jim Nichols, Billings TrailNet’s Outreach chairman, TrailNet Executive Director Kristi Drake, and Mayor Cole also answered questions and provided feedback.
The project team is currently collecting feedback and is planning a meeting to be determined. For questions or comments related to this project, please contact Brittany Cremer at brittany.cremer@hdrinc.com or 406-853-1853.
