There’s something special about spending an entire day exploring Billings without feeling rushed. Instead of driving from place to place, why not let the city’s trail system guide your adventure?

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing Saturday or an active evening after work, Billings’ growing network of trails connects parks, neighborhoods, and downtown, making it easy to experience the best of the city at your own pace.

Start Your Morning Outdoors

Begin the day with a walk or bike ride on one of Billings’ many multi-use trails. Early mornings are often cooler, quieter, and perfect for spotting wildlife or simply enjoying the views along the Yellowstone River.

Bring a cup of coffee, take your time, and enjoy the fresh air before the city gets busy.

Stop Downtown

After your ride, head downtown to grab lunch, browse local shops, or cool off with your favorite drink. Exploring by bike or on foot gives you the chance to notice public art, historic buildings, and small businesses that are easy to miss when you’re driving.

Later in the week, downtown comes “Alive After 5” at the Rainbow Bar, where Crazy Fool will be playing live! Riding or walking to the event means less time looking for parking and more time enjoying the evening.

Discover a TrailNet Event

Looking to meet other outdoor enthusiasts? Billings TrailNet hosts events throughout the summer that help people experience the trail system in new ways. Community rides, volunteer opportunities, and educational events are great for exploring unfamiliar routes while helping build a stronger trail community.

Whether you’re attending your first TrailNet event or your fifteenth, every ride and walk helps strengthen the connections that make Billings more accessible for everyone.

End the Day Outside

As the sun begins to set, there’s no better way to wrap up the day than with one last walk or ride. Summer evenings are one of the best times to enjoy Billings’ trails, offering cooler temperatures and beautiful Montana skies.

Sometimes the best part of the day isn’t checking another destination off your list, it’s slowing down enough to enjoy the journey between them.

Save the Date: Ales for Trails

Looking ahead to later this summer, Billings TrailNet’s annual Ales for Trails event is another great way to support local trails while enjoying an evening with the community. Stay tuned for more details as the event gets closer, we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Trail Tip of the Week

Don’t forget your bike lights! Even if you plan to be home before dark, summer events can last longer than expected. A white front light and a red rear light make you much more visible if you’re riding home around sunset, helping keep you and others safe on the trail.
