- GridSmart- The City of Billings installed four new intersection detection systems which will detect bikes. This means bicyclists will spend less time waiting for lights to change! The new GridSmart fisheye cameras use state-of-the-art technology and are the only such cameras in Montana. If you appreciate the new cameras please call the Department of Public Works and let them know. Their phone number is (406) 657-8230.
- Poly Drive-
Bike lanes are currently being painted between Zimmerman and 38th streets on the west end of Poly Drive. Very soon, the bike lanes on Poly Drive will run from 38 St. West to 13th.
- Colton Blvd.- Construction has begun on an extension of Colton Boulevard between Zimmerman Road and 38th St. West. The Big Ditch Trail will also be extended 600 feet to the east, and will run along the north side of ditch. Due to a lack of right-of-way and funding however, the trail will dead-end before the new road. City Engineering expects this project to be complete in spring of 2016.
- Bike Counts- The City Planning Department has a video counter to help count bikes! Right now, the city is getting baseline counts for all bike lanes in Billings to help improve bikeway planning.
