Would you like to see more rails to trails projects in Montana? Right now,  Montana has a rare opportunity to potentially acquire or negotiate an easement for the Montana Rail Link spur lines that that were not sold to BNSF when BNSF purchased the main rail line from MRL.

A committee under BikeWalkMontana has been formed to try to pursue this incredible treasure.  Tom Elpel is the chair and has started a google group, Montana Rail Trail, to let people know what is transpiring and at some point to show the number of Montanans who support this effort.

As a side note, Rails to Trails Conservancy in Washington DC is pursuing their dream of The Great American Rail Trail which will traverse across Montana.  They have hired Jacque Lavelle from Deerlodge, MT, to head up their trail corridor and development.
