With the 2015 Legislative session starting on January 5th, this promises to be an exciting year for cycling in Montana.

helena-montanas-capitalOur friends at Bike Walk Montana are currently advocating for several bills that will make cycling safer in the new year. The first bill would require cyclists to use tail lights at night in addition to the the currently required headlights. The second bill would replace the ambiguous “safe distance” passing law with a four foot passing law which will help cyclists stay safe when being passed by a motor vehicle. Finally, and perhaps most excitingly, the last bill would create dedicated state funding for biking and walking!

Each year, Montana becomes a better and better place to cycle and 2015 promises to be no exception!
