As Intermountain Health breaks ground on its new St. Vincent Hospital project on its current campus in the heart of medical corridor in Billings, the organization continues to prove that its investment in the community goes far beyond bricks and mortar.

As a long-time corporate member of Billings TrailNet, Intermountain Health promotes access to high-quality healthcare, and also access to safe, welcoming places where people can be active and stay healthy.

Intermountain Health’s commitment to healthy lifestyles is its consistent sponsorship of the Tour de Fleur, Billings TrailNet’s annual bicycle ride that celebrates women and encourages families to get active outdoors.

The event is a springtime favorite, welcoming riders of all ages and abilities, and aligning perfectly with Intermountain Health’s mission to help people live the healthiest lives possible.

They’re also a proud sponsor of the Heart & Sole Run, an iconic summer race in Billings whose proceeds benefit both Billings TrailNet and the Billings Family YMCA—two organizations deeply committed to wellness and an active lifestyle.

“For our community to have access to great community assets like our trail system to get outside to hike, bike, walk and run, it is so important,” said Tyler Wiltgen, executive Director of Philanthropy for Intermountain Health. “We know when our community has a safe, well-maintained trail system, it helps us all stay healthier and happier.”
This includes individuals and families in the community who have benefited from services at Intermountain Health.
Morgan Tuss, a recent Intermountain Health patient, exemplifies the kind of resilient, active community member Intermountain hopes to support.

Morgan delivered her first baby who need a high-level of care at the NICU at Intermountain Health, and she has a deep appreciation for both quality medical care and the importance of the outdoors in her and her child’s recovery.

“The experience at Intermountain was great,” Morgan shared. “The doctors and nurses provided excellent care to our daughter, and now that we’re home, getting outside with her is an important part of our week. We live near the Skyline Trail and we enjoy riding our bikes on beautiful, sunny days.”

As Intermountain Health continues their 125-year commitment to the community, Billings TrailNet’s connection to the surrounding community is only growing stronger. A key piece of that vision is the Yellowjacket Trail, a proposed trail connecting the rims and to the St. Vincent campus along 27th Street.

“We are so excited to see what is next for the trail system with the planned Yellowjacket tTrail that will provide safe pedestrian access to the rims right at our doorstep at Intermountain,” said Wiltgen.

Intermountain Health’s story in Billings is one of growth, care, and connection—to patients, to families, and to the community trails that help make health a way of life.
