The team at HDR Engineering is passionate about building connections—designing bridges that get us from here to there, engineering roadways that transport us from one corner of the Big Sky to the other, and delivering efficient and effective designs that connect and power our communities.
This shared mission of connecting people and places is part of what spurred on HDR’s sponsorship support of Billings TrailNet.
“As an employee-owned architecture and engineering firm with more than 200 locations around the world, we believe that the way we work can add meaning and value to the world—and that small details can yield powerful results,” said Tim Erickson, HDR’s Montana Area Operations Manager. “Billings TrailNet’s efforts to promote healthy lifestyles, active transportation, and safe walking and biking add tremendous value to our community, and we’re proud to support them as a trusted community partner.”
HDR lends support to Billings TrailNet as a corporate sponsor, volunteer advocate, and also through engineering contributions on local bike/walk connectivity projects.
HDR is the design lead on the Lockwood Interchange project, which integrates and recognizes the importance of connecting updated roadway to the MetraPark corridor and building sidewalk to enhance pedestrian access to area businesses. HDR is also the lead designer on the City’s Stagecoach Trail project, which will introduce a new walking/bike path that connects the Skyline Trail, Zimmerman Park, Swords Park, and future connectivity for the entire community.

GIVING HEART, GIVING TIME
HDR employees also support Billings TrailNet through individual and group volunteer efforts, routinely raising a hand to participate in trail pick-up days and beautification projects.
Logan Moody, an Engineer in Training at HDR, said he enjoys volunteering for Billings TrailNet because he loves the way being outdoors allows him to socialize while connecting with nature and his colleagues.
“I utilize the parks and trails around Billings and appreciate the work they do,” Moody said. “Because of this, I like to contribute to Billings TrailNet’s maintenance and upkeep when I can.”
Julie Carpenter, a project accountant with HDR, said she understands how important it is to have walkable communities, which is why she volunteers for Billings TrailNet.
“I appreciate that HDR supports and encourages volunteerism at organizations like Billings TrailNet,” Carpenter said. “It shows that HDR supports their employees and the causes that matter to them.”
