This past week, Billings TrailNet volunteers assembled and delivered new bikes to school children.
Arrowhead Elementary School’s Jacob Pertuit noticed that some children were attempting to ride to school on broken or dilapidated bikes last May, during their bike to school day event. He later applied for a grant and received ten new bikes for students! The bikes came in pieces however, and he needed a hand in assembling them. Jacob contacted Billings TrailNet board member, Kevin Odenthal, who has been installing bike staples and helping find volunteer mechanics for a mobile bike repair trailer. Kevin coordinated with BTN members Steve Hudak, Steve Tobin and Joe Stout, who expertly assembled these bikes within a few days.
If you would like to volunteer to assemble or fix bikes, or help install bike staples, please contact Kevin at events@billingstrailnet.org.
We are proud of the work Kevin and the volunteers have been doing to help make biking accessible to all school children.
